2004-03-18 - 1:01 p.m. Hoo boy. I got to wondering about maternity leave and leaves of absence and all that stuff since I'm going to need *some* kind of leave in October. I pulled up the intranet site at work and immediately felt a lump in my throat. A minimum of 1250 hours in the 12 months preceeding the leave? As a part time employee, this is physically impossible. How do they handle pregnant part-time people? I'm sure there has to be SOMEONE who was a part timer and got pregnant. I sat down with our highest VP to talk about it and while it was said nicely, it was made known that since I worked such slim hours last year I *should* have been let go. I know it was out of my hands, but I am feeling a lot of remorse for lost hours last year. J advised that I should have a sit down with B in HR and talk it out and then come have a chat with him and let him know what she has to say about it. He told me to think positive, but I can't help dreading that conversation. I am really trying my best to work as much as I can right now. Hopefully that will say something for me.
