2003-05-11 - 9:28 a.m. Yesterday was one of those rainy, sleep in and snuggle type days only I didn't get to do much of that since The G went for a run in the rain and let me sleep until about 11:15, when I decided I was cold and sick of laying there alone so I got up and checked the mail. Got my $$ from the pcf, ran to the bank (AFTER verifying funds), to my folks to get the quilt and to the post office to mail it away and get it out. The G came home sometime while I was gone and we talked about some things we needed to do (ie:get hotdogs before I kill someone for one, get M day cards for his mom and gramma and my mother, grab lunch, and get milk). We ventured out. First off, let me say that the mall on the Saturday before Mother's Day is a nightmare and should be avoided if at all possible. Now let me follow that up with "be smart and buy when they first put the cards out or you'll never find one you like". Anyway, we managed to agree on a bunch of cards and picked out an angel for his mother (she collects them) and got the hell out of the mall. Talk about your one stop shopping! PLUS I managed to score 300 extra bonus points on my Hallmark card for buying before the 11th. Unfortunately, what made this trip out hard for me was seeing cards addressed "To Nana" along with the grandma cards. Nana was what my gramma preferred to be called when she was alive. I lost her January 7th, 2001 after only finding out she was dying of liver cancer the day after Christmas. I could never find "To Nana" cards when she was alive, and now I see them everywhere. I cried right there in Hallmark and had to hurry The G through. From there we tried to decide where to snag some lunch and ended up driving 130 blocks out of our way to Samurai Sams. Had some really good teriyaki CHEAP and then hit Slime Meats (HyVee-I used to work in their meat/cheese island and can attest that the meat really IS slimey) for some milk and hotdogs and then headed home. By that point, somehow it had become almost 5 o'clock and we still hadn't done any laundry, so he commenced with the wash and by 9ish he had completed a few minor loads and announced he was going out for a while. This was fine by me-I wanted to work on posties and that involves spreading out all over the entire livingroom floor. Made about twenty of them and was a laminating fool with dad's Xryon machine. Katielou, thanks for listening to me when I started getting blue last night, and for understanding how I was feeling. Still feeling that a bit today, and being around mom will be hard since it was HER mother. Going to get some highlight stuff today and work on Sara's frog (yeah, the paper is STILL attached to it) and maybe stitch some. She's talking steaks for tonight so I'll be eating happy with mom (and maybe dad-not sure what time he goes in to work tonight). Eleven days, baby!!!
