Finally got the final payment from a certain pcf who bounced her first payment to me for the quilt she commissioned. I called BofA to make sure there weren't any stop payments or anything on the money order before depositing it and then immediately took it to the post office to send off to Encino. Can I tell you how glad I am to be done with that thing?

I'm not a designer-never EVER claimed to be one either. This person presumed that the work I'd done was all mine-oh no, I follow patterns on almost everything! Anyway, after 3 months of waiting for the initial check and then having it bounce, I was pretty close to saying fuck it and giving the quilt to my nephew. I got the thing done once the funds finally appeared and then emailed her once it was completely done. She's lucky too-my mom paid for the professional quilting since we didn't have space to spread it out on the floor and tie it. Sadly, what she sent me ($20 more than I originally told her in the inital cost) still doesn't cover mom's loss but we're glad to have this thing DONE and out of our lives.

I like to make quilts, but I don't think I'd like to make them professionally. It's one thing to make one as a gift, or in %%diary-oddly-enough%%'s case, a trusted friend and paying customer, but for someone who barely knows me to say "Hey! I'd love to have you make a quilt for me" and then expect miracles from me...well, that isn't going to happen. If I don't have a pattern, it's going to be tough to come up with something specific. Fortunately for me, when Katielou commissioned me to make a quilt for Jeff's new little boy, I was thrilled that she just said "Make whatever you think will be great". I put together something bright and fun, and my mom happened to have a great print with train cars full of bright happy animals to put around the outside and it was perfect. Katielou got the extra special friend discount on that quilt, and I was glad to do it for her. She trusted my judgement enough to come up with something for a good friend of hers, and it did the trick. this is one of the reasons why she's getting her own quilt when I go visit in a few weeks!
